Master Prim, away in a tangle, was much the lest, moved up rapidly in the first quarter and passed the leaders after going a half and moved away without much effort In the final furlong. Ancient Witch came fast after going wide Into the stretch and got up In the final stride for second place. Frank Monteverde, under n had ride, ran a good race for lit in and, better handled, would have been an easy second. Merry Belle showed speed, but quit badly in the final drive. The" latter, showing steady Improvement, ran well and appeared likely to win, but tired slightly In the last sixteenth. Mlntberia, vigorously handled, made up ground steadily and was going fast- at the end. Jardiniere showed, speed, but quit-badly, after having leen a factor to the stretch. Plater ran to his best form, showed the most speed and, getting away forwardly, assumed a long lead at once and won with plenty in reserve. The Cure began slowly and came with a good burst of speed In the last quarter. Bitter Hand made up ground and ran a fairly good Rice. Grove Center, badly ridden and away- poorly, was taken all over the track, but finished fast and ran a good race. Optional was off badly and ran a winning race. Plnsticker tired near the end. Kickshaw showed unexpected speed and ran in greatly improved form. Merry Pioneer suffered from Interference and ran a fairly good race. King Ellsworth was practically left at the post and was given a bad ride. Van Ness beat the barrier by a big margin and Martin was quick to take advantage and opened up a big gap before steadying his mount, jiermitted Escutcheon to race closely with htm for a quarter, then came away with ease. Escutcheon ran a good race, but was made much use of in an effort to overtake Van Ness, causing him to tire badly iu the final drive. Norwood Ohio ran a tine race and finished fast. Footlights Favorite was taken wide into the stretch, but outgamed Mayor Johnson. The latter seems iu poor form at present. Scratched 50017Southern Cross, 111; 59917 Kings Charm, 110. John McBrlde. away poorly and badly ridden, ran a winning race and will improve. Discernment showed a smart Hash of speed In the middle half. Miss Leeds quit badly in the last half. Beechwood showed speed. Chauncey Olcott and Lctty closed up much ground .and finished well. Overweights Lena J., 11 pounds; Miss Leeds, 1.
