KENTUCKIANS WIN HEAVILY. EVOX, BACKED FROM 50 TO 1 TO 15 TO 1, IS MEDIUM OF THE COUP. Workwatchcrs Fail to Keep Tab on tho Speedy Maiden Jockey Fisher is Injured V by a Fall. New Orleans, Lh., January 29. A Kentucky delegation, headed by Howard Oots, of Oots Brothers, imlled off one of the biggest "killings" of the winter ut City Inrk this afternoon. Evox, the thrce-year-ojd inaiilen, was the medium of the coup. Backed from 50 to 15 to 1, he lauded the money in handy fashion from thirteen others of his age In the first race, a selling affair at live furlongs. Kvox had worked well for the race, hut the workwatchers, not kuowiug the colts name, overlooked him. The weather was delightful and the attendance large today. The track was in excellent condition and fast time was made in a majority of the races. Fred Cooks handsome three-year-old tilly Minnie Adams redeemed herself for the poor race she showed on Thursday by making a runaway affair of the fifth race, winning in a romp and running the seven furlongs in 1:203. Ill luck seems to hang over John Ferrlss stable here this winter. Two of Ferrlss jumpers have broken their necks within the past month and this morning his apprentice jockey, It. Fisher, was Injured while working the four-year-old Fallen Leaf. The filly ran into one of the "dogs," used to prevent galloping on the Inside of the track, and fell. Fishers" collarbone was broken. The filly was shaken up considerably.
