Evox ran on the outside of the leaders until making the turn into the homestretch, where he moved up fast, shook off Gentian in the last furlong and had something in reserve when Galmeda challenged. Galmeda ran well, saved ground all the way and finished fast. Nonie Lucille began slowly, but closed a big gap and finished gamely. Rip was waited with until making the last turn of the field before making a move, went to the leaders while going to the ninth jump and outstayed New Amsterdam through the last quarter. New Amsterdam tired in the last fifty yards, but ran a good race under ids- big weight. Ohio King went well, but pecked at a couple of the jumps. Evander was in the lead when lie fell at the ninth jump. Archibald fell off Charawind on the flat after taking the seventh jump. Judge Nolan struck the seventh jump with his knees and made n bad landing, unseating his rider. Ticliimingo moved up fast and made a game challenge when straightened out lor the final run, tired after getting to the leader and then came again at the end. Thespian ran well but tired III the last sixteenth. Royal Legend dropped out of the running in the final half, but was gaining fast at tiie end. The latter ran closer ini than usual in the early stages and finished gamely, but lacked the sensational stretch run he so often displayed as a four and five-year-old. Brnshtoii ran a bad race. Goldmate got away tangled up and teid to go around his opponents to get up, but outgamed Quinn Brady when it came to the final drive. The latter ran a good race but was tiring at the end. The Gleam ran the best race of all and finished fast on the Inside, but was in close quarters in the last sixteenth and might have won had lie got through.
