FRANK LORD AND BEMAY RUN A DEAD HEAT. Crescent Park Books are Hard Hit Messrs. Wat-kins and Hayman Sever Racing Connections, New Orleans, Im., January 30. Dead heats as a rule are a rarity, but for two-year-olds, at this season of the year, to come to the finishing line on even terms is unprecedented In the memory of the oldest racegoer in these parts. The feat was accomplished at the old track today and caused the big crowd present to veil their feelings of appreciation over the spirited struggle in no stinted manner. Kru.uk Lord was probably the better horse today, but Bemay, ridden by L. Smith, kept him in close quarters during the last sixteenth and profited by the move. Kollowers of favorites had their Innings. The only break that the books had came in the last race when Lady Kree Knight, frequent disappointment, came home lit front of her opponents. The surprising incident of the afternoon was the announcement that Dick Watkius and M. L. Hayman had decided in future to race their strings inde-peiidenltly. Humors of discontent lietween thein had been heard for more than a week, but little credence was given the story. Some of the Hayman horses may go to Hot Springs. About ten will lie left for John Lowe to handle and sell here before the end of tlie season. J. Martin, it is beiived, will remain here to ride for Dick Walkins, or at any rate under his management. A. L. Aste arrived today. He intimated that he would stay here until March and then ship his string to Bennings. The judges ordered Ilill Roque and Lsopus coupled lu the betting before the third race, both horses being trained by A. 1. Worley. Jockeys W. Bobbins and Dennison were each suspended for one week by the starter for disobedience at the post.
