Luretta. away well, forced a fast pace for the first mile and, when called on strongly, assumed a slight lead, which she retained to the end under a hard hand drive. Van Ness ran to Ills best form and, being given a skillful ride, lasted well. Hannibal Bey put up a good performance, but was outclassed by the first two. Paul Clifford had no mishaps. Jucora went well and will do soon. Flying Trapeze has worked well, was away poorly and seemingly was afraid to get up In the ruck. Shipwreck was left and ran a good race. Frank Lord was. crowded a bit In the last sixteenth, which " probably caused him to shorten his stride slightly near the end. Bud Hill, away poorly, closed a big gap aud ran a good race. The latter showed improved form and ran a sparkling race. High Chance ran well, but was in close quarters In. the final drive. Deviltree closed a considerable gap from a slow beginning. Interfered sharply with nearly all the others, was excessively used In the early stages and, better handled, would have been an easy second. Chub was nearly thrown on the first turn. Lady Free Knight trailed the leaders in the eivrly running, moved up fast in the last quarter, caught Fair Calypso In the last sixteenth aud won drawing away. Fair Calypso forced the pace in the early stages and appeared a certain winner in the stretch, but tired unexpectedly in the last furlong. Uncle Henrv went well arid suffered from slight interference, but not enough to hurt his chance had he been good enough Kenton came in the stretch with it belated rush. Brookston ran a good race. Prince Salm Salm ran out at the stretch entry and finished gamely. Verandah showed speed, but probably dislikes to go so far. Benora ucuuiu had a rough trip and had scant chance.
