Big Store was well ridden and hard hustled from the start, closed up ground steadily and drew away In the final furlong. Al Powell ran green, but finished fast and gamely and will Improve. Friction showed the most early speed, but tired when hard ridden. Bud Hill had no mishaps and ran a fairly good race. My Son ran a bad race and can do much better. Vagabond probo-bly ran the best race of his career, moved up steadily from a slow beginning, wore down Elastic lu the last sixteenth and outgamed him in the final strides. Elastic, probably best today, ran a good race, but was given an overconfident ride through the last quarter. Hannibal Bey did his best, but tired when hard driven. Pinsticker showed speed, but quit badly and is fainthearted. Celebration Is rounding Into good form and ran n fairly good race. King Ellsworth stuck resolutely to his task, gradually closed up a big gup In the first three-quarters, wore down Macy Jr. in the last sixteentli and outgamed him in the final stride under good handling. Macy Jr., best today, was badly ridden, raced Peter Paul Into subjection and appeared a certain winner in the last furlong, but Perkins became overconfident and was caught napping. Columbia Girl was well ridden and clear of Interference, was kept out of the early fast pace, saved ground into the stretch, stood a hijrd drive resolutely and outlasted Southern Cross. The latter was taken extremely wide on all turns atid ran a winning race. Goldsmith had a rough trip and was repeatedly bumped in the final drive. James Reddick showed early speed, but went wide throughout, thereby losing ground, and was eased up in the last furlong. Edith May showed line speed for the first half and tired as if short. Bravery sprawled badly iu the first half, but came resolutely thereafter and finished going fast. Colonist closed a big gap from a poor beginning. Aurumaster also made up much ground. Fred Hornbeck tired badly ufter going a good three-quarters. Sincerity Belle was badly ridden. Kenton went fairly well.
