Even Bannock Belles electric challenge failed to appreciably quicken the winners stride at the end. Outsiders scored frequently during the afternoon, the closing race at six furlongs capping the climax in the victory of Tocolaw over the heavily backed favorite, Mistys Pride. The Oregon mare was practically left at the post, the winner having an advantage over her at the start of a dozen lengths. Starter Dwyers effort in this instance was harshly criticized.
