The announcement of stakes In behalf of the Saratoga Association is an event annually" awaited with lively Interest by western owners and trainers, as well as by those of the east. Traditionally Saratoga Is the appointed battle ground where the crack horses of the two sections are to come into conflict and annually since the days of Longfellow, Harry Bassett and Kingfisher has the influence of this tradition been exemplified In the gathering at the Place of Healing Waters of the clans of the sast and the west, eager to emulate the mighty deeds of speed and stamina that marked the history of the favored Saratoga track.- To be run at the meeting of the present year the association now announces a list of seventeen events and in addition the Great Republic of 1907.
