BAD DAY FOR FAVORITES AT OAKLAND. The Captain Is Banished Williams Disperses His Stable Recruits Expected From Ascot Park. San Francisco, Cal., February 27. At Oakland this afternoon five short, priced choices were defeated. The stewards acted quickly on yesterdays episode. They announced that the entry of The Captain would lie refused and ordered that he be taken from the track forthwith. The S. SI. Williams horses are being transferred to new owners daily. Rubric and Lustlg went to Ed. Gaylord today; Hector and Wee Lass to Hall i; Marshall and Silver Sue to W. P. Magrane. Reservation and four broodmares are not for sale and will be shipped to the farm In Oklahoma next Thursday. Dr. J. G. Lymans local agent today sold Roycroft to Charles Helpers, a new-comer to the turf. L. Williams, who rode Distributor to victory in his first attempt at riding since his illness, was given much applause. Expected arrivals of horsemen from Ascot Park are G. W. Dodge, Denny Brothers and W. P. Maxwell, the nast named witli a string of eight horses, including Eugenia Rurch. J. P. Jones and Walter Gum will ship to Memphis next week. Jockey J. Kelly has gone to the Springs to recuperate. Ex-jockey Vandusen arrived today with Hippocrates and one other. Garnet Ferguson and Tom Cook left for Los Angeles this evening to testify in the investigation of the charges against General Manager Rrooks at Ascot Park tomorrow.
