CONVOLO THE MEDIUM OF A BETTING COUP. Hot Springs, Ark., February 27. An ordinary card developed good sport at Oaklawn today. Speculation, however, was light. Many bettors are grumbling on account of the short prices offered by lavers here. These conditions, it is explained by the bookmakers, come from the desire of nearly all to back only the mounts ridden by Radtke. J. C. Milam uncovered a "good thing" in Edward Prazers Convolo, which had leen reserved for nearly a year with a view to making him the medium of a" betting coup. It was carried off successfully today, his connections hacking him from 20 to 1 to S to 1. After Harbaros victory in the fifth race, J. K. Hughes bid her up to ,500, an advance of .00 over her entered price. J. O. Kcene then bid an additional and got her. Jockey R. Mclntyre is due to arrive here tomorrow from New Orleans. The purpose of I. .1. Campaus visit here is said to have been to interest Louis A. Cella in the annual meeting for harness horses at Detroit. Messrs. W. O. Parmer and Fred Gerhnrdy arrived here last night from Nashville and solicited entries from horsemen to stakes to Ik? decided at the tracks on the Northern Circuit next summer.
