NO QUARTER IS TO BE SHOWN ESSEX PARK. Hot. Springs, Ark., February 27. A committee of merchants waited on Messrs. Stuart and Condon tills morning with a request that they close the Oaklawn track at the expiration of thirty-one days racing in order that a meeting of eighteen days without opposition might be given at Essex Park. The request was refused. The Oaklawn meeting, they said, will continue until Memphis opens. William Shannon, asked as to his future plans for Essex lark, said: "The future will decide my course. At present I do not care to discuss the matter." The general impression Is that there will be no meeting at Essex Park.
