BOOKMAKERS GET THE MONEY AT OAKLAWN. Three Heavily Backed Favorites Lose Hildebrand s Riding of Mike Sutton Is Criticised. Hot Springs, Ark., March 10. A featureless card made up chiefly of inferior horses, furnished ordinary sport at Oaklawn this afternoon. Cold weather again kept the attendance down to small numbers. The defeat of Mike Sutton, Scalplock and Amberita, heavily -backed choices, was a severe blow to the talent and gave the books the best break thev have had during the meeting. Hildebrand was severely criticised for his listless ride on Mike Sutton, many being of the opinion that with more vigorous handling the Stubbs colt could not have lost. "Whitey" Langdon had a disastrous day. He failed to pick a winner and left the track nearly 5,000 out of pocket. William Red Walker came In today from Los Angeles. He brought Marshal Ney, The Borgian, Crowshade, Foxhall, Antl Trust, George P. McNear, Petit Due, Fille dOr and Voila. Jockey H. Jackson, the stable rider, arrived with the outfit. Ben Lear was bid up 00, over his entered price of 00 and secured by P. King. Trainer Bob Campbell, who has been In the employ of Joe Yeager for a number of years, is dangerously 111 here. Jockey Hildebrand will ride at Bennings. Jockey Cherry is showing considerable improvement in his riding. He again piloted two winners. - W. S. ."Kansas" Price was among the days visitors. He will ship his horses from New Orleans to Aqueduct next week and rest up until April 10. Three carloads of horses are .expected here next week from Ascot Park.
