"It might be a good thing for the game if a bunch of cow punchers would come to Oaklawn and shoot iip the ring," says a Hot Springs dispatch to the Memphis News-Scimitar. "The straugle-hold is so prevalent that the percentage lends color to the accredited statement of syndicate. It is high time that some judicious action is taken to unfasten the fangs of the syndicate if the game is expected lo thrive."
