Friction was well handled, ran to his best form and, after wearing down Demo in the stretch, held the others safe. Demo showed- the most early speed and hung on well in the final drivu. King Leopold came with a belated rush through the streteli from a poor beginning and got up in the final stride for third place. Hybrid was in close quarters in the first half .and suffered slightly from, interference, but tired fast in the final drive. Mint Boy got away well and ran as if much the best, dashed into a long lead at once anil, hugging the Inner rail closely, held the others safe at all stages and won with plenty in reserve. Irincipia ran a good race, but was not good enough to beat the winner today. Happy Jack II. closed a gap. but was :i beaten off third and pulled up lame. Lansdown came fust in the last Iialf, but only ran a fairly good race. Souny and AVebcrlields were contenders in the early stages and tired badly near the end. Old Stoue ran a good race, showed much speed and was weakly ridden near the end, wliich cost him second place.
