Gold Lady, after being patiently reserved far in the rear In the early running, made good with a startling stretch sprint under a skillful Hde. Gallant Dan. from a flying start, forced a stiff pace and gamely stood a long drive to save second place. Don Enrique, a slow beginner, moved up rapidlv in the middle running, but was Inadequately and weakly handled in the stretch and so much the best his race should be thrown out. Frank Gil, shut on on the last turn, lost much ground and finished with a belated rush, had a bad ride and was second best. Janeta, lucky at the start, was . shuffled to the rear on the tirst turn, but closed up fast in the last six furlongs and just failed to get up at the end. piiaim.lain, carried out on the llrst turn, worked through a rough jouruey in the middle half arid, overhauling the loaders, gamely stood a long closing drive. Blenncnworthj a slow beginner, badly ridden and nearly left, closed an Immense gap. Lord Badge displayed superior, speed for seven furlongs and will do in soft going. Flimnap ran forwardly and well, but was badly sunt off at the bait and on tbe last turn and bad no sbanee. DArkle failed to stay. Rubric, badly messed about for the first half, closed up fast in the last half and would have been second in another stride. Red Leaf ran forwardly for a mile, but failed to stay and mny have been short. Tokalon, which had a good position for sir furlongs, commenced to drop back when tbe real racing began and ran a very bad race. Samson was sore and failed to stay. Salvidere broke slowly, but got Into forward contention in a jiffy, was then reserved until on tbe last turn, where he drew out like a streak and won as his rider pleased. Chaseaway, after trailing for part of tbe journey, closed up rapidly in the last half and with a rush took second place easily. Superman, pocketed on the inside for the first half, closed up well in the stretch. Rosemount forced a terrlllc pace, but failed to stay. Peter Pan essayed to head the pacemaker in tbe first half, but tired as if short. Ballot quit badly after running forwardly to the stretch, but was shut olT at the start aud knocked far back, then closed a", big gap. Scratched G391I3Don Enrique, 112; G37043Aletbeuo, 112. Hylas maintained nearest pursuit of the pacemaker from the start, blundered seriously over the second from the last jump, but made a miraculous recovery and, when Jimmy Lane fell, came away and won off by himself. Deleanta was sent out to force the pace, which he did to excess and, tiring badly at the end, was unable to withstand Hylas challenge, but was best and should have won. Kernel loomed up ttell at the end of a mile and a half and then gave way again. Jimmy Lane was given a bad ride and used excessively in tbe middle half, but was a keen contender when he fell, a half mile from the finish. Scratched C3S61Grandpa. 107. Nannie Uodgc outbroke the others, but was taken back and ridden a waiting race to the last turn, where she moved up aud challenged Comedienne after a long stretch effort, coming away decisively right at the end. Comedienne, also reserved early dashed into the lead on the last turn, but succumbed finally under a weak ride and was best. Ben Hodder maintained a good iosition from the start, finishing with a fast stretch sprint and ran a cracking good race. Far West began slowly and was hopelessly in the rear for the first half, but made up a lot of ground in the last quarter. Cedcrstrome steadily Improved bis position. Oyama showed dazzling and unexpected early speed, but failed to stay and ran like a sulker. Oressina was badly messed about. Lady Anne ran prominently for only half the journey and ran a bad race. Oarsman maintained place in forward contention from the start and loomed up menacingly on the last turn, but tired alightlv at the end as If still short. Sir Russell, badly handled, ran lapped on the winner to the stretch, where he tired and probab!y was not keyed up for the journey. Wrcnne, away badly, closed a big gap, showing" vast improvement. Donna ran a comparatively poor race and can do better. Cholk Hedrick probablv found the pace toD fast and retired at the half. Grevilla made up a lot of ground in the last half.
