Won handilv; second and third driving. Friction, much the best, was away in a good position, but met interference when Froward cut him off . sharply, bad to go wide into the stretch, but finished gamely, wore down Avendow and won going awav. -Avendow ran forwardly from the start and stayed well in the final drive. Bitter Miss broke running and ran a good race. Froward, given a rough ride, was well up in the early stages, but tired fast after going a half. Handspike was away too poorly to cut much figure in the race. Beautiful Mavo was practically left aud was not persevered with. Alex Monroe .bolted through the fence before the start. Elastic broke running, showed the most speed and won all the way with plenty in reserve. Shining Star ran a good race, closed a considerable gap and finished going fast. Terns Roil was a forward contender from the start, but tired slightly in the final drive. Martins was turning around when the start was effected, closed a big gap and was probably second best. Intense was shuttled biek soon after the start and ran a good race. Saud Bath tired in the final drive. Llghtburn showed speed for ii half, then retired. Mum quit badly after going a good half. Tuba, running in surprisingly improved form, was a forward contender from the start, moved up fast when called on and won well in hand. Yachting Girl, also showing sudden improvement, forced a fast pace in the early stages and stayed well in the final drive. Leo Bright, away well, showed the most early speed, but was excessively used in the early stages, causing him to tire near the end. Injunction ran well, but tired after going a mile. Ovelando got into second place at once and easily stayed there to the end. Bud Hill ran in improved form and finished going fast. Zipango had no mishaps. Webber tired slightly near the end. Bullfinch, badly outrun for the first three-quarters, came with a rush near tha end and finished fast. Moccasin Maid ran a good race. Josles Jewel was raced into exhaustion in the first mile and tired badly, but held on resolutely. Dudley ran a fairly good race and, better handled, would have been a closer contender. Stroud, hard ridden, was badly outrun and suffered from bumping. Lady Charade tried to run out on the turns and tired badly after going a mile. The Only Way ran a poor race and can do much better.
