SALVIDERE TO START IN SARATOGA SPECIAL. New York, July 30. Salvidere, winner of the Brighton Junior Stakes, will start in the Saratoga Special. Captain W. Harry Brown had named Salvidere, Penarris and Elfal for his subscription of ,000 to the famous Saratoga "jack pot." When these colts were sold recently, Frank ONeill, who became the owner of Penarris, bought the subscription to the Special. ONeill had reached the conclusion that Penarris is not good enough to warrant a risk of ,000 in starting him against such colts he would meet in the Special, so when Thomas H. Hitchcock, Jr. proposed the purchase of the subscription for Salvidere, ONeill promptly let him have it. Mr. Hitchcock also holds the Madden subscription for Golf Ball, but it is not likely that this youngster will be seen in the Special. His showing In the Brighton Junior seems to have settled this. He could not get within hailing distance of his stable companion.
