ASCOT STAKES WILL CLOSE NOVEMBER 1. Los Angeles, Cal., August 11. Manager J. W. Brooks, of the Los Angeles Jockey Club, Is preparing the conditions of the stakes for the winter meeting at Ascot Park and the blanks will be out shortly. The stakes will close November 1 and the meeting will open Thanksgiving Day. Manager Brooks will leave for the east about September 1.
