SARTOR RESARTUS WINS STEEPLECHASE. The Usual Mishaps Only Two Favorites Win at Windsor Jockey Flannery Is Suspended. Detroit, Mich., August 30. A steeplechase over the short course furnished the attraction at Windsor today. Seven were carded to go and Sam Parmer declined the issue. Sartor Resartus took the lead early and, fencing perfectly and showing his usual speed on the flat, he held the others safe all the way, winning the race practically pulled up. Little Wally, an unusually slow beginner, made up ground gradually and, taking- advantage pf Trenct the Meres stumble as they were swinging into the stretch, saved second place handily. Madoc unseated his rider while going the second time around, the boy alighting without mishap, while The Guardsman, an uncertain fencer at best, ran out of the course in front of the grandstand. The followers of the favorites- managed to pick two winners out of the six races. Laura A. was one of the warmest tips of the meeting. The 4 to 5 laid at the opening was early accepted by the speculative public. "Pa" Bradleys Eminola, however, upset calculations and won with two lengths to spare from the good thing. Jockey Flaiinery will do no more riding for some time, starter Dwy.cr having suspended him for the remainder of the meeting for disobedience at the post.
