The latter .was a forward contender most of the way and swerved slightly in the final drive. Sir Russell was poorly handled and ran a dull race, although going fast at the! end. John L. Inglis lacked, mucli .speed in .the first half but finished going fast after closing, a big gap ini the final quarter. Miltiades .favors a longer distance and is regaining his good form. Moccasin Maid ran a good race and showed superior speed, wore down Estrada Palma after going three-quarters, but was deliberately taken wide into the stretch, which cost her considerable ground. Mae Lynch had a rough trip and closed a big gap in the last half. The Mate also finished fast and ran a good race. Bullfinch had a rough trip and can do much better.
