Joe Miller was pocketed on the inside to the stretch and delayed a long time before he sot clear sailing, hut moved up rapidly in the last furlong and passed the leader as if he was anchored and was much the best. Senator Clay ran forwardly from the start, finished with a great rush and is a good colt. Common Sue set the iace from the start, drew out into a clear lead in the stretch, but tired at the end. High Glass was prominent all the way and going fast at the end and is very promising. Colonel Jack was interfered with on the turns and finished close up. Rockstone came, fast from the rear, ran a good roro and was easing up at the end. Commodore Anson showed superior early speed, but failed to stay. Gargantua got away poorly and can do better. Robin Hood decisively outbroke and outpaced the others, winning all the way and staying unexpectedly well, scoring a lucky win, however. Fish Hawk closed up very fast at the end after having been pocketed and interfered with in the early stages. Slickaway had no mishaps and ran In forward contention behind the winner, but failed to get up and tired unexpectedly at the end. Commune, away badly, closed a big gap into a close and fast coming fourth in an extra good effort. Gambrinus ran prominently, hut failed to stay. Anueta Lady, away badly, made up a lot of ground and can do better. Cloten suffered from crowding at the start and closed up steadily. Simple Honours failed to stay after showing brilliant early speed and can do better. Mintla was knocked out of the race on the far turn. Daniel jumped into, the lead at the start and won all the way like a genidne crackerjack, nothing ever getting near him. Paumonok, after losing ground on the last turn, finished very fast under inadequate handling and ran a grand race.- Main Chance maintained forward contention throughout and only succumbed for second place in the last two strides. Montgomery ran prominently to the stretch, where he unexpectedly tired. Dan Buhre was prominent for half the distance. George S. Davis foiled to stay and is best In mud. Tiptoe forged to the front quickly and made the running, appeared beaten on the last turn, but had plenty in reserve and suddenly stole a long lead when straightened for home and was never seriously menaced afterwards. Neva Lee, off well enough, was pulled back to last and closed a tremendous gap in the middle half while running on the extreme outside, made a late move at the end and was much the best, but given a remarkably queer looking ride. Proper, shuffled to the rear early, closed up a lot of ground in the last half, showing his best form. Oxford improved his position rapidly to the last furlong, where be tired. Inquisitor, hard held, was reserved in close pursuit of the leaders for five furlongs, then moved up and appeared like a sure winner, but quit suddenly. Inferno, away badly, made "P a lot of grpund. Good Luck was knocked back to last and had no chance, but closed up like a shot when too late. Coy Maid showed early speed. Dolly Spanker got away badly and loomed, up well, on the last turn and then tired under a bad ride. Kings Daughter showed brilliant speed for sir furlongs. Dandelion is in rare form, was reserved within striking distance of the flying pacemaker until straightened for home, where he went up to and by him in a flash, going very easily until right at the end, when he was menaced by Ostrich and ridden out. Ostrich fell back early and was mildly driven all the way, gained rapidly in the last half and Just failed to get up in a cyclonic end sprint. Peter Sterling maintained forward pursuit of the fast pace and finished resolutely, but his rider weakly threw away second place. Wes raced into a very long early lead and for a mile appeared very promising, but tired in the closing drive and was also shut off right at the end. Hallowmas ran well and Is worth watching. Algelone moved up menacingly In the stretcli and was going best of all at the end. Fire Opal finished well up. Mitre, carried wide. on the turn, lost ground and finished unexpectedly well. Linnepee was pinched off in the stretch. Adellnette closed up much ground, coming from far in the rear at the end. Royal Onyx was a forward contender for five furlongs and will do to watch. Ebony, in forward contention from the start, drew out when beginning the last five furlongs and was only nailed In tho last stride. Sir- Ralph, badly messed about in the early running, arrived late after closing a big gap In the last three-quarters. Huntington finished flagging, but game, under an inadequate finish. Right Royal was taken up in the early running, but was s-eemlngiy beaten early fu the race and only held his position under pressure, stays well, however, and kept coming at the end.
