NOTES OF THE TURF. Jacobite is again on the shelf. Some of the critics in the east are of the opinion that Oxford ceuld have beaten 1:18 In his race on Monday. "Snapper" Garrison says Glnette is the gamest mare he ever saw, not excepting Flrenze, which he rode in nearly all of her races. "C. T. Henshall could probably sell Glnette for 5,000 right now," says the New York- Sun, "but he Intends to keep her as long as she is in condition to go to the post." Cairngorm may not be among the starters in the weight for age race at Belmont Park Saturday. He came out of his race Monday very sore. Thomas Hitchcock, Jr., has expressed himself as well pleased with the showing of Orthodox in his races ovor the obstacles and he says lie is satisfied that he will make a good steeplechaser.
