MINNIE ADAMS BREAKS A TRACK RECORD. Runs One Mile and a Sixteenth in 1:4G 2-5 at Churchill Downs Racing Gossip, Louisville, Ky., October 17. Minnie Adams, making Jier first apiearauce in a race since. June 10, when she finished seventh in the Queen City Handicap at Latonia, won the fifth race at Churchill Downs this afternoon ami set a new track record for the one mile and a sixteenth 1:40?. Though she had been working fast since her return from the east, some doubt existed as " to her thorough fitness, but the heavy backing she was accorded by Fred Cook dispelled this and caused many of the most dubious to trail in the wake of her owner. Jockey Keyes was fined 5 for carrying one and one-half pounds illegal weight on All Ablaze. He weighed in five pounds over and came .back scaling six and one-half over. The Canadians attempted .a strong coup on Salvage in the opening race, bapklng him from the high price of 25 to 1 to G to 1. He tired badly in the stretch after early prominence. Sixteen yearlings owned by Edward Corrigan will shortly arrive here from Lexington to be given their first lessons before being shipped to New Orleans. Thomas Flynn came from Chicago today and purchased Pleiad, Robert Parker, Walter McLean and three yearlings from vnrious owners. They were shipped tonight to Roby, Ind.
