GOOD MEETING IN PROSPECT AT PIMLICO. Stable Room Has Been Pre-empted Plenty of Oecu- pation for the Steeplechase Brigade, Baltimore," Md., October 17. More horses will be on the ground for Ihe coming fall meeting of the Maryland Jockey Club at Pimlico than ever attended a meeting in Baltimore. Superintendant Brennan has received applications for stable room that will completely fill 1 lie stables, and late comers will have- to take their chances finding accommodations outside or the track. There are many available stalls to be had, however, as in the immediate vicinity of Pimlico are three or four trolling tracks at which owners of runners may put up their thoroughbreds. The oilieials of the club are pleased with the way in which the stake fixtures have tilled. They believe that this indicates a higher class or racing than Baltimore has seen in many years. Nearly all the best steeplechasers in training are entered in the Pimlico Autumn Steeplechase, and as there will lie a jumping race each day, the lovers of cross-counlry uport will have a heller ipiortuiiIty to witness their favorite sport than has ever before been presented. With the meeting of the United Hunts so closely preceding the Pimlico meeting and the Bennings meeting to follow immediately afterward, the owners of steeplechasers are counting on more than a mouths continuous racing for their horses, and the jumping division ought to go into wiuler quarters with good-sized bankrolls. A feature of the cross-country events of course will be the presence of many amateur riders in the saddle. Dion Kerr will bring bis stable over to race through the meeting and will be up on his horses whenever possible. Courtlaud Sinilh will also raw llis stable of "leppers," which includes that good horse Gohltleur. As usual. Mr. Smith will ride occasionally, though he will depend mostly on his trainer, Silas Veitch. Naturally, the chance to see the amateurs ride will attract large crowds of society folk. Besides the steeplechase the gentlemen riders will have other oportmiities to show their skill in races on the fiat. The Country Club Selling Stakes has attracted a fine field, including such good ones hs Bryan. Cadichon, Simple Honours, Tin Clown. Spring, Cary, the horse that defeated the great Oisertu last summer; Jake, Disobedient, Royal Window and Weirdsome. . Two-year-olds will have a chance to win their winter oats in several good races. The Wahlon has filled well and some good colts and fillies will contest for the .,000 purse. Altogether it looks as if PinUico would enjoy the best meeting it has had since the reorganization of the Maryland Jockey Club. :
