OFFICIALS DENY RING WAS SYNDICATED. Hot Springs, Ark., October 23. The Arkansas State Fair Association has taken exceptions to the eharge made in some of the eastern papers that the betting ring during the recent meeting at Oak-lawn was syndicated. Ray Gill, the manager, says, that the association turned down a 0,WK otter for the betting privileges, so. that the ring would be open. S. R. Jackson, the president, makes an affidavit to the same effect, and says that the officials and all of the purses were paid by the association, excepting a few donated by the hotels and street car company. Also that the grounds were donated free of charge by Dan Stuart and John Condon.
