Tommy Waddell ran prominently for a mile and then quit, running a bad race. Sir Ralph, after trailing far in the rear for six furlongs, finished with a great rush and would have been third in another stride. Moonshine ran a bad race, but was outclassed. Surveillance, from a flying start, was boring out on the turn and carried the others with her, made the running to the field stand, where she readily gave way to the winner, but saved second place. Jennie Wells took an early contending position, but rired right at the end. CItrona ran prominently throughout and was going fast at the end. Jocinta, pocketed on the inside, was going well when too late. Fire Opal quit badly in the last quarter. Manila got away very badly and made up much ground.
