SEA WALL WINS BREEDERS STAKES. Tongorder Takes Prince of Wales Handicap Two Disqualifications at Toronto. To onto. Out . May 21.— The Broaden Stakes, which is practically a renewal of the Kings Plate, was the feature race at Woodbine Ibis afternoon. Joseph E. Seagram fornlahed the winner in his well -bred filly Sea Wall, Imported in utoro from England by the president of the Ontario Jockey luo. Among the other starters was Kelvin, winner of the Kings Plate. The hitlers chances, however, were not taken seriously. Glimmer, owned by the Messrs. Hendrie, was considered much the best of tin- company and was a atrong favorite with the publie. Glimmer ran a good race, but he was not equal to the task of heating the more reasoned Sea Wall, which got home a length in front of him. In the early running Photographer displayed that rare turn of speed he showed In the Kings Plate and for six furlongs set a fast pace, leading until well inside the final furlong. Then he quit, slop ping all over ami resigning third place to Kirkfield. There was no question as to Glimmers superiority over Sea Wail and the next time the pair meet the Hendrie colt will reverse the order of the finish today. As to Photographer, he is simply a sprinter and his limit is seven furlongs. Tongorder, J. Dyinents rejuvenated sprinter, made his company look cheap in the Prince of Wales Handicap. This big striding chestnut had Nicol as his pilot and under an admirable ride, he beat some of the iH-st sprinters that ever wenl to the Boat at Wnodblae. The aVagraw stable raraiahed another disappointment in this race in Purslane, which was well fancied by the public, but proved unequal to the task of giving weight to older horses and beat ing them. Considering his impost, he ran a smart race and at anything like equal weights, he would have won. Purslane was none too fortunate at the start. He was off in a tangle. Platoon and Lord Boanerges lioth outbreaking him. The former set a let Me pace for a half mile before he dr pped back beaten. When the leaders began to lire Nicol brought Tongorder up with a rush on the inside and. finishing fast, won going away from 1 ord Boanerges, which just managed to last long enough to beat Purslane out a head for MCOad place. The stewards are determined that then shall be no rough riding at Woodbine without punishment, tanopian. which finished second in the first race and Fresc-iti. which finished third in the fourth race, were both disqualified. The former cut across the course directly titter the start, causing a jam. while Present i kept bearfag over to the inside all through the last furlong and interfering with aev-eral hocaca. A capital card is offered for tomorrow and with such good ones as Merry England, Preen, Charlie Baataaaa; Oacar T.. Pan, Freaeati; Thistle Ho. Xouseuse. Peter Knight: Picklimc. Hob Alone, Gal istan: Colonel Jack. Inferno. Toninieraire: War Whoop. Nimble Hick and File Pang among the entries tie- attendance and racing should be up to a high mark. T. K. Lynch.
