GWYN TOMPKINS LOSES A JUMPER. New York. May 21. — Gwya Tompkins baa had the misfortune to lose another of his steeplechasers. While working at Gnreaead Saturday morning. San ■bine After Bala, the aix-year-oid hois,, by Victory Sprinkle, struck a fence and complete severed a tendon. A veterinary aargeoa advised that, the horse be destroyed and he was put out of his misery. Sunshine After Bala won the only steeple chase in which 1 ver started. He was bred by B. H. Spjlman of Warrcuton, Va., and was raced twice as a two-year old by Mr. Spilmaii. being unplaced in both ra.-es. Then he was sold to •■.Mr. Cotton" and was irained for atocplechaaiag by Gwya Tompkins in P.MH. making his first and only start over the obstacles ill the Junior Steeplechase at Penning in the fall of thai rear, winning maily. lb- was not in condition to race in VMC and PHXl. but after being hunted last winter he came back this spring apparently sound, and gave promise of paying his way.
