CEL. LA PAYS ,500 FOR MARINA COLT. Rainey Brothers and R. L. Thomas Are Among the Buyers Better Prices Rule. New York, June 21. The yearling sales at Sheepshead Bay today embraced the consignments of Catesby Woodford, J. N. Camden, Jr. and other Kentucky breeders, thirty-six head being sold for $.8,225, au average of ,801. Yearlings from the Raeeland Stud of Catesby Woodford invariably bring good prices and there was no exception at todays sale. Sixteen head, mostly the get of Sir Dixon and Star Shoot, sold for an average of ,807. L. A. Cella paid the top price. 1907.sh,500, for tlie half brother to Sylvan Dixon and Totness after a bidding tilt with William "Garth an.l others. William Garth, representing R. A. Rainey and Paul J. Rainey, made the heaviest Investments of the day, paying .1,400 for four head. This seems 1o be sufficient evidence that the Messrs. Rainey are not discouraged with racing by a bit of bad luck. A local paper published a few days ago a story to the effect that R. L. Thomas, the Kentuckian tpIio is racing a big stable this reason, might drop Mit, but the purchase of six yearlings today belles uch Intent. The summary: PROPERTY OF W. II. SANDS, NEW YORK.
