WILL LATONIA CLOSE JULY 13? Cincinnati, 0., July 1. No one appears able to say with any degree of positiveness whether there will or will not be an extension of the present meeting at Latonia. The Latonia Jockey Club has made no application to the Kentucky State Racing Commission for an extension, and it is understood that it will do no more than present a petition from the horsemen. This, however, was sufficient last year and the presumption is that it will secure the allotment of additional dates this year, though there is a probability that not so many as thirty days will he granted. The meeting is scheduled to close July 13, and unless there is an. extension there will be some six weeks of idleness for many of the horses. Windsor closes also July 13 and the meeting at ICcnilwprth will end July 20, to be followed by the opening of Fort Erie July 22. The fall dates in Kentucky have not been alloted, but the understanding la,st February was that Latonia and Louisville should each have thirty days and Lexington about seven. This leaves the gap between July 15 and September 1 to be spanned.
