Elder, clear of interference and running to ills best form, took the leail at once and, maintaining bis speed well all the way. held the others safe in the final drive. Albert Fanz broke slowly and was forced to go wide into the stretcli. stood a drive gamely and would probably have won with clear sailing. Royal Chance, away in a tangle, showed a good Hash of speed iu racing into a prominent position in the first three furlongs, but tired slightly at the end. Belarins ran a good race and was right there most of the way. Dr. Simrall was in a jam most of the way. Lep Godchaux tired in the last quarter. L. C. Mar-morean broke hist and had a long advantage at the start, but was outpaced for the first half, then came gamely through the stretch and, wearing down Darting, won drawing away. Harting showed superior sliced and seemed a certain winner on the stretch turn, but tired in the last furlong. Dele Strotno began slowly, but saved ground when coming into the stretcli and was gaining fast at the end. Young Stevens bore out badly in the stretch and would have been much closer up hut for this. Dr. Lee Huffman, away slowly, was a prominent contender in the first half, but tiled badly in the last quarter. Nellette tired after goinga half. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. Geneva S. sutfered from interference in the first half and was forced wide into the stretch, but finished witli a rush through the last furlong and got up In the closing stride. It. C. Kami, much the best, was repeatedly impeded in the first quarter and, when going fastest In the stretch, Parisian Model continued to block him. Whisk Broom tired after going a half and dislikes to go far, but will show improvement. Beth Goodwin, favored throughout, showed good form. Waldorf Belle can do much better. Convolo, well ridden and clear of interference, showed the most speed for a mile and tired slightly as If short. Beau Rriimmel, poorly ridden and suffering from much interference, closed a big gap in the last quarter and ran a good race. Tanglewood was repeatedly interfered with and finished fast. Woolstone showed suddenly improved form and was r. sharr factor for three-quarters. Bottles ran a bad race and can do much better. Saul, also well ridden, closed up ground steadily and, finishing with a rush after taking the stretcli hurdle, was an easy second. Pete Vinegar, showing improvement, closed a big gap and wore down Onyx II. in the last sixteenth for third place. Onyx II. tired after going one turn of the field and may have been short. The latter moved up fast on the stretcli turn, but tired in the last furlong. Harpoon retired after going three-quarters. Redcoat ran a fairly good race and did thi best he could. Mcllvain was under poor guidance and suffered from interference, had scant chance and will show big improvement under stronger riding. Blennenworth came from a long way back in the stretch. Henry O. jammed the others sharply in the last furlong and nearly caused a spill. Dr. Spruill ran a bad race and can do much better.
