Jcne Russell, a forward contender from the start, drew out when straightened for home tuid just lasted tim journey. Iloilistcr, always well up, swerved across a half dozen horses when beginning the last quarter and just failed to get up while swerving under a weak finish. Jubilee set the pace to the stretch bend and dropped back after being badly crowded. John Marrs, away badly and carried hopelessly wide on the Ioiij: turn, finished a fast going fourth and probably was best. Dead Gone suffered from serious interference and the same applies to Black Sheep and Jim Gnffney. The last named developed superior early speed. Cloisteress set a stiff pace and tired finally. Mary IV, away slowly and inadequately bandied, loomed up menacingly on the last turn, but lost any winning chinces by going hopelessly wide. Don Hamilton developed superior speed in the middle running and tired In the closing drive as if short, but finished well up. Golden AVest lieliKMl force the pace, but made a wide stretch turn and succumbed quickly in the last furlong. Drother Thomas, away badly, closed a big gap and was going like a shot at the end. Gold Lady was moving up well in the stretch.- Rifleman broke so slowly as to have been virtually left and closed up steadily in the last half. Gild seemed unable to raise a respectable gallop. Chantilly, after nearest pursuit of Grimaldi in the middle running, kept up a game struggle to the end and made a superior class effort. Ccderstroine. from a poor start, made up ground- steadily. Grimaldi showed marvelous early speed, but quit badly in tliw last quarter. Alila ran prominently for nearly six furlongs and is worth remembering. Andrew MacU was nearly left. Alex Grant finished close up in an extra good race, better than the figures show. Rosimiro finished well, but swerved all over the course and should have been much closer up. Dottie S., pocketed next to the rail, finished going very fast. Masson was never dangerous and was hemmed in in the last quarter. Royal Evox "was always in nearest pursuit of the winner, but lost ground steadily after going a quarter. St. Hario, hampered 011 the turns, finished with a rush. Terah, a fast going fourth, came from the rear and is promising. Glaueus got away poorly and was outpaced early, made a wide stretch turn, but finished., well. Montclair, after early prominence, tired liually. Milfonl was gaining at the end. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. Overweights Chorus Girl, 1 pound.
