GOLDCREST SALMERA COLT THE STAR J. E. Widener Gets Him for ,500 McChes-neys Half-Brother Brings ,600. New York, July 2. The chestnut colt by Gold-crest Sahnera, was the star of the sale of yearlings from the Daytona, Kindergarten, Mere Hill, Sunny Slope and Woodburn Studs this afternoon. The principal bidders for this colt were J. E. Widener and J. E. Madden. The former entered Into the bidding at ,500 and it steadily rose between the two to $.1,500, at which it was knocked down to Mr. Widener. The half-brother to Mc-Chesney and First Mason was knocked down to Tljomas Welsh for ,000. Fifty-six head were catalogued, but sixteen were not ottered and eleven were passed out, the twenty-nine sold bringing 5,175, an average of 2:;. The summary: PROPERTY OF CHARLES W.
