CONDENSED HISTORY OF THE BRIGHTON HANDICAP. In its first three years of running the Brighton Handicap was not held to be of much Importance, but advanced in estimation when its added money was raised to ,000 and took first rank when its value was further increased to 5,000, making it the most valuable handicap of the American turf for three-year-olds r.nd over. It has been the medium of some remarkable contests in marvellously fast time. In it Gold Heels, Waterboy and Broomstick in successive years lowered the American record for the distance and some-thing more in the same line may lc in store for this afternoon.
