Hyperbole, away slowly, showed sudden improvement, closed a big gap steadily and, finishing gamely, wore down Little George in the last furlong and won going away. Little George was a forward contender most of the war and took the lead in the stretch, but tired after appearing the winner. Captain Fearson, poorly ridden, ran a good race, was gaining at the end and would have been second in a few more strides. Sister Polly, taken wide most of the trip, put up a good performance. Joe McCarthy, hard ridden for the entire trip and away forwardly. set a fast pace from the start, raced Caltha into defeat in the first half and had enough in reserve to stall off Uneasy in the final drive. The latter, much the best, was almost thrown when Joe McCarthy bore over at the ftirlotvg post, lint saved much ground and finished gamely. Caltha had no mishaps and tired after going a half. Ogbent had a rough trip and was poorly ridden. Belariur- seemingly disliked the going and will show to better advantage on a fast track. Bannock Bob ran green. Wine Merchant had no mishaps. Carthage ran as if lie outclassed the others, took a long lead at once and, retaining it for the first thretf-quarters, came fast when called 011 and won cantering. La Veita, poorly ridden, came fast through the streteh, but just lasted long enough for second place. Matador, second best in the going, was wcaklv ridden, but came with a terrific rush in the last seventy yards ami would have been second in another stride. Javanese tired badly In the lust sixteenth. Colonel Boli, away fast and favored by the going, dashed into a long lead at once, but began tiring in the last furlong and barely lasted long enough. Cloyne, much the best, was gaining with a rush through the stretch and about to pass Colonel Bob when he swerved, which cost him the race. Betli Goodwin, away in a tangle, closed a liig gap, although going wide, and finished with a rush. Dunvegan ran a good race and was right there at the end. Gracious Dame tired after going a half. Peter Becker, skillfully ridden and fencing in good style, set a stiff pace, raced Full of Fun into defeat and outstayed Graceland in the final strides. Graccland, showing a good performance, came with a rush after passing the last obstacle and was probably best today. Full Of Fun tired after being a sharp contender most of the way. Itacatiara dropped out after going one turn of the course, but came again near the end. Blue Pirate blundered badly at the seventh jump and ceased to be a factor. Snowdrift went poorly. Lightning Conductor was a forward contender from the start and put up a good performance. Marmorean, poorly ridden, had scant chance and can do much better. Young Stevens showed improved form and finished fast. Kokomo bolted. Zln-fandel quit badly after going a half. Harold D. can do better. The winner was entered for 00; no hid. Water Lake, well ridden and clear of interference, ran Jo ids best form and, standing a hard drive through the stretch, outstayed Attlla. The latter was slightly interfered with in the stretch, but finished gamely and was probably best. Little Elkin, weakly ridden, finished gamely through the stretch and would have won with stronger riding. Savoir Faire suffered from much interference and was taken wide? in the last quarter. Clyde disliked the stiff going and tired badly after going three-qiiarters. Small Lndy moved up with a rusli after going three-quarters and was sharply cut off.
