FI Cuchillo is a high-class cross-country jHrfonner, was skillfully and patiently reserved within striking distance of the pacemaker, ranged alongside of him at the last obstacle but one and, outjuinping him twice, gained enough advantage to win out by a head. Thistle Do, excessively urged in making the running for two miles, fenced poorly when racing witli Kl Cuchillo and drew up on the Hat, but could not quite make it. St. Volma, a superior horse through the field, maintained close pursuit of the tremendous pace for over two miles, but tiled liually and possibly was short. McKittredge blundered over the obstacles in the early running, but closed up slecdily in the last mile and is promising. Alfar ran prominently for two miles and then tired. Palm was badly outpaced throughout. Grandpa fell at the water jump aud was well up at the time. Incorrect weight in entries St. Volma, 150. ryYrTI TIlHUrirACK 5 l2FuTlo"nisi b 420:: 1 :00 2 111. Won driving; second and third the same. McCarter, from a good start, indulged Gallavant with the lead in the early running, then was taken back and waited on Dandelion until straightened for home, where he made good witli a final swift closing sprint and ran a grand race. Running Water was reserved well up to the half, where she moved up ami challenged Dandelion, disposed of him and drew out in the stretch, but finally succumbed in the last stride to her stable mate, McCarter, and probably was best. Dandelion held a favorable position in the early running, moved up prematurely, however, and set the pace and tired badly in the last furlong. Ironsides held a good position in the early running, improved his position rapidly at the half and loomed up menacingly on the last turn, but tired in the stretch and was palpably short. Gallavant showed the way for three furlongs, then dropped back suddenly on the backstretch and could never make any impression afterwards. Red Leaf was crowded back carlv and never dangerous.
