Johnnie lilake indulged King Cobalt witli the lead until straightened for home, then drew out and won as ills rider pleased. Castlewood broke well and ran within striking distance pursuit to the last turn and i:.ov,.i up, but ran out and then came on into a fast going second in a superior effort. Dennis Stafford, v. ell up f-om the start, loomed up on the inside in the stretch, hut was pocketed and forced to pull up. then finished, witli a lielated rush and was second best. John Marrs was outpaced all the way and never really dangerous, but finished well. King Cobalt made the running to the stretch, where he tired, but linished close up. The latter was in close and persistent pursuit of the winner all the way and ran in remarkably improved form. Killaloe was outpaced in the early running and apparently beaten for third place on the last turn, but came on again very gamely and beat Dashaway out in a hard drive. Wol-bourne was shandy cut off on the first turn and lost a half dozen lengths, but closed up gradually, made good finally and won going away. Tony Bonero drew out witli a great hurst of speed and made the running by a "wide gap for seven furlongs, then only succumbed in a hard and game drive. Lord Lovat ran in nearest pursuit of the winner to the stretch, then swerved in behind the leaders and could never quite get up afterwards, but ran a splendid race. Miss Crawford was outpaced early, but finished well and was palpably short. Dolly Spanker was kicked before the race and badly interfered with on the first turn, made up much ground and will do to watch. Standover showed speed for five furlongs. Throw out Arimos race.
