EXCITING FINISHES AT TORONTO. Marster Takes the Dufferin Plate G. C. Bennett to Send Stable to Latonia. Toronto, Out., September 19.The Dufferin Plate, one of the annual events of Toronto racing, was the feature event at Woodbine this arternoon. In it were entered some of the liest of the long-distance horses racing here. The conditions called for sell ing allowances at one mile and a furlong aiid an excellent contest resulted, Marster winning by a neck from the favorite. Restoration, after a great stretcli drive. In the steeplechase handicap sixteen horses went to the post. There were a number of accidents in the race, only nine of the lot finishing without a mishap. Coiug to the first jump Peter Becker bolted and Diinbeiith ran out with him. At the twentieth jump Tony Hart fell and Dacra and Lights Out tumbled over him. Henry, who had the mount on Dacra, had one of his wrists broken, while Bosteck. who rode Toiiy Hart, had his right arm broken, besides suffering other injuries. One of the horses stepped on his neck and the boy was still unconscious when he was conveyed to the General Hospital. Heideiv on Lights Out. escaped unharmed. At the tenth jump Merry Maker ran out and at the thirteenth Jiijiim Blue Grass Girl lost her rider. The winner turned up In Btitwell, which closed, with a rush after taking the fourteenth jump and, catching the leaders tiring, won going away. Outsiders won a majority of the events, Cannie Maid and Miniota being the only favorites that made good. The winners in some of the other races sprung from most unexpected quarters. The races were keenly contested, small margins separating the first two in four of the events. M. .1. Shannon, who is handling G. C. Bennetts string, announced that he would ship the entire stable to Latonia at the close of the Woodbine meeting. John Dyment. oue of the leading Canadian turfmen, will take his string to Belmont Park.
