Many more layers will be forced to hunt fresh bank rolls, as the victory of six choices this afternoon caused the impoverished bookniakiug brigade to- sustain a Severe loss. Not alone did favorite players achieve a signal victory over tlie ring operators, but the number of followers of jockey Shilling scored handsomely by the riders feat of piloting four "winners and two seconds. An accident in the first race caused uneasiness for some - time, hut fears that the three riders who had fallen, had sustained severe injury was abated whonJt was announced that Goedike had escaped with a fractured collarbone and C. Kocr-ner with a bruised ankle. Conway, who rode Mc-Kee, escaped unhurt, but bis mount hadto be destroyed on account of his grave injury. Goedike, on Hamlet, was held mostly to blame for the mishap, as he "herded" the rear guard when approaching the first turn. His mount, Hamlet, is thought to have sustained a fractured hip and may also have to he destroyed. The sensational feature of the racing was the confident plunge instituted on Ilarting in tlie third event and its success.
