SALVIDERE MAY LEAD GELDINGS. At Belmont Park Salvidere is in the Municipal Handicap at a mile and three-quarters, to be run Saturday, October 12. and the Belmont Park, Autumn Weight for Age Bace, which will be run on the last day of the meeting, Saturday, October 19, over a course of two miles and a quarter. Presumably he will be retired for tlie year after this race. Being a gelding, he is not likely to 1h spared next year and if he remains sound aud retains his form, has the possibility of winning more money than any gelding of American racing history. So far his record reads: Year. Sts. 1st. 2d. 3d. Unp. Won. 1900 7 fi 1 0 0 1,085 1007 9 3. 2 3 1 39,91! Totals 10 ! 3 3 1 1,004 Over in England, Epsom Lad, with 12,533, is said to hold the money winning record for geldings, while Baccland, with 20,120, holds that distinction in the United States. Two other American geldings. Stratlimcath and Banquet, each won in excess -of 00,000. It can easily be perceived that it requires but the winning of two or thrco of the big handicaps or rich weight for age stakes next year to put Salvidere in the van of all geldings as a money reaper.
