Gallavant broke well and held a good position to the stretcli, where he closed up steadily and got up in the last two strides. Ouinii Brady, lucky and having a forward position from the start, hugged the inner rail and drew out in the last furlong like the winner, hut succumbed right at the end. Poquess-iuff closed up rapidly in the last half into a fast going third and ran a cracking race. Umbrella, showing remarkable improvement, got away poorly and closed a big gap. Progress made the running to the stretcli, where he ran out and tired at the end. Yada, well up all the way. finished gamely and is improving. Belie of Jessamine had scant chance at the start and closed a gap. St. Valentine, nearly left in a collision with Oak Grove at the start, closed an immense gap. Colin led from the start on the outside, had only a small advantage the first quarter but. under restraint, caiiie away as his rider pleased when let down and won off easing up. Fair Play, reserved far in the rear of the two leaders, came like a cyclone at the end into a decisively fast going second. Royal Tourist essayed suicidally to race witli Coliu and quit very badly at the end. He got a bad ride, but showed brilliant speed. Meelick, badly outpaced the first half, closed like a shot. -He ran a grand race and would have been second in another stride. Stamina, seemingly unable to draw clear for half the journey, drew out decisively when beginning the last half and won off. Masquerade helped to force the pace from the start and came away from the ethers at the end :fnd is a good filly. Half Sovereign, reserved close up in the early running, finished with a rush, but could never get up. Mombassa ran prominently for a half and then tired, but ran an fxtia good race. Perseverance maintained close and persistent pursuit of the leaders from the start and ranged alongside MeCarter when straightened out for home, getting up finally in a terrific drive after being under tlia whip for three furlongs. MeCarter made the running under a pull and was saved patiently to midway of the stretcli, then was bumped repeatedly by the winner and succumbed in the very last stride. Gretna Green, close up throughout, went wide into the stretch, but finished fast and ran a grand race. Yankee Girl, after trailing far in the rear, closed up fast in the last quarter. Monfort, after close attendance on the favorite for a mile, tired finally. Scratched 71105Gold Lady, 111; 703522Cave Adsum, 104; 70S553Littleton Maid, 90. Falcada, fast and a stayer, maintained close and persistent pursuit of the favorite from the start, was under the whip to get up and seemctl beaten, but scored suddenly and unexpectedly right at the end. Alfred Noble made the running under a pull, but careened all over the course when Falcada loomed up and was fiually beaten out under an extremely incompetent ride. Robert Cooper, badly outpaced in the early running, stood a long and very game closing drive to earn third place and is a stayer. Antaeus was kept well up all the way and put up a game stretch struggle. Kings Plate was outclassed here and 0 mpped out beaten after going half- the journey. R:tby Wolf forced the pace to the last turn, where he went very wide and then hung as if unbalanced and not in his stride for the first furlong of the stretch, but made good with a whirlwind i-nd rush finally. Don Creole, in close pursuit of the pace, stole through on the inside, hugging the rail, mid gained a big lead when straightened for home, but succumbed finally to the winners line effort at the end. Bedouin ran prominently for half a mile, then tired aud was palpably short. Cairngorm was also not keyed up and tired In the closing drive.
