Merrick broke fast and had a slight advantage at the start, showed the most enrlvjfspeed and appeared u ei:lain winner on the stretch turn, then tired suddenly but, under a hard drive, liiurlly won out. Refined, favored by the going and showing suddenly improved form, dashed into the lead ;when well straightened nit in the stretch but, under poor riding, tired in the closing strides. No Quafier, a close contender throughout, was best of the others. Clifton Forge came from a long way back aiJr finished gamely. My Queen of the Roses had no mishaps. Winner 15. f, by Sain Miss Baker trained by D. Henry. Went to post at 2:34. At post 1 minute. Start good. Won driving; second and third the same. Miss Sain, well handled, was reserved in the first half, saved considerable ground into the stretch and, finishing gamely, wore down the leaders and held Rustle safe in the closing strides. Rustle forced a fast pace all the way and, although swerving near the end, came away from Centre Shot in the last seventy yards. Centre Shot was going easily for the first half and, showing the most speed, appeared to hold the others safe in the stretch run, but bore out and tired fast in the closing strides. Complaint ran fairly well, but was beaten off. Ada O. Walker closed up a slight gap. The others were beaten off and outclassed. - QQQ THIRD RACE 3-4 Mile. 500201 : 1 2 J 31 10. Dainty Dame, showing sudden improvement and well ridden, was sent into the lead at once, but tired on the stretch turn and allowed Frontenac to get by her, then came again under hard urging and got up ia llie closing strides. Frontenac raced in close pursuit of tiie winner to the stretch, where lie wore her down and appeared a certain winner but, under careless riding, tired. Lady Esther, badly outpaced for tiie first half, came fast through the stretch, but only ran a fairly good race. Usury hnd no mishaps. Funiculaire was eased up most of the way and suffered from slight Interference. Beatrice K. ran a bad race and can do much better. Scratched 71200 Monere, 93; 712603Marvel P., 97. Full of Fun followed the winner closely, but weakened near the end and was a lucky second. Pete Vinegar was gaining and going strongly all the way, especially In the stretch, when Wei ton stopped riding, thereby losing second place. Class Leader ran poorly and can do much better. W. K. Slade slipped when approaching the seventh jump and Wlckline was unseated. Russell Sage ran poorly. The Tacc was run in a blinding rainstorm. Lute Foster was a prominent contender, for a half. Feminine will show improvement. Arrow Swift ran poorly. Shirley Rossmore disliked the going. The winner was entered for 700; no hid. Black Fox set the pace in the early s.ages and stayed well in the stretch after appearing hopelessly beaten. Ben Strong saved much ground on the stretcli turn, but was in the worst going and tired near the end. Posing gained steadily from a slow beginning anil showed Improvement. Toboggan, after a good display of speed for a half, tired badly. Electorine can do much better. The winner was entered for 1907.sh00; no bid. The Clansman, under poor riding, ran a good race, saved much ground when coming into the stretcli and barely failed to win. Ilardshot came from a long way back in tiie last quarter and was right there at the end. Nellie Bum was shu tiled back soon after the start and was gaining at the end. Hazel Patch was forced to go wide most of the way and tired near the end. Dr. Lee Huffman quit after going three-quarters. The winner was entered for 1,100; no bid.
