BLAIR ATHOLS SUCCESSOR. Great Scot, a veteran race horse, has been given Blair Atliols bos at the Cobham, Kent, England, Stud, and Is a remarkable animal in many ways. The Sporting Life says of him: "Blair Athol was undoubtedly the. best son of Stockwell, and Prince Charlie probably the best son of Blair Athol. Lochiel, by Prince Cbarlic, was an absolutely first-class race horse in Australia, and right on the top of the three as a sire. Great Scot is the best son of Lochiel, and his dam is Scotch Mary, by Clan Stewart sire of Georgie, winner of the Prince Edward Handicap and the Cambridgeshire In 1S9S, another Prince Charlie horse, so that We get very close inbreeding to the most successful development of Blair Athol Mood. In color, temper and general characteristics Great Scot is a true Blair Athol, and it would he impossible to find a sounder-horse or onewith better constitution. There was reason to fear that the Blair Athol line was going to be lost to this country, hut this stalwart representative of it will soon make good his liosition." "In Australia," says the Sportsman, "ho was quite the best three-year-old of his year, and won, among other great races, the Australian Cup, of wo miles and a quarter." The horse raced in England tills season and last, and though seven years old won three out of ten races.
