FOURTEEN MGRATH I ANA MARES DIE. Lexington, Ky., October 30. It is shown by Colonel Milton Youngs report, mailed a day or two ago to Registrar Rowe of the Jockey Club, that out of 302 mares bred in 1000, there were 17S foals at. McGrathiana Stud this year. The remaining 214 mares proved barren, slipped their foals, lost them after birth or died. Thus, a frac- lion less than forty per cent, of living foals was obtained. More than half of the marcs failing to foal, proved barren. The death rate for the year was small and the general health of the marcs now at McGrathiana Stud is excellent.
