JUBILEE WINS THE WALDEN STAKES. Defeats Dixie Himmel and His Old Rival, Billie Hibbs, in Pimlico Feature. Baltimore, Md.,, November 5. Fine weather brought out the largest attendance of the meeting at Diiullco today. A splendid card of seven races was run off, with the Blue Bonnets Steeplechase and Die Walden Stakes as the features. The Wahlen was the star attraction and brought on a field of ten two-year-olds. Billie Hibbs and Juhi lee were once more pitted against each other, with" the conditions tills time favoring the LiUlelield colt. William Garth came; all the way from Now York to saddle Billie Hibbs. Billie Hibbs, as usual, was off like a Hash when the barrier rose and set a cracking pace to the stretch. Jubilee was away poorly, but. making up ground gradually, turned into the stretch within striking distance. There Billie Hibbs fell back and Dixie Hiinuiel shot Into the lead, but Jubilee, answering every call with rare gaiueness, just got up ami beat her out in tlie last stride. It was a great linish and pleased the crowd mightily. The Blue Bonnets Steeplechase furnished another stirring contest. Bi.ckmau, Guardian II. and Ri-rsi made a great race through the Held, with Buckuia.i out in front and appearing all over the winner. Over the last jump Buckiuuii was still in front, but Bel si. coming fast, overhauled him in thf slrotch and won out going away. Guardian 11. ran a good race and finished third. The Hunt 1urse brought out six of the crack gentlemen jockeys. .Mr. Tucker. .Mr. Taylor. .Mr. Kerr, Mr. Harrison, Mr. Wright and Mr. Iliggin-son, who came on to ride his own horse, Kuutshaw. had the mounts. Itecrnit was thought to be the good thing .and was made favorite, but he was beaten out by Tellfaro, a 4 to 1 shot. Tellfare was in front when passing the sian.l and. opening a big lead on the backstretch. turned for home with the race won. -Mr. Harrison was warmly -ap plaudt-d when he caine back lo dismount. A very good youngster was introduced to public notice here in the first race for maiden two-year olds when Johnny Edwards won. He was a hoi tip and. from an opening of S !o 5, was backed down to 1 to 2 at post time. He won like a good one, setting the pace and finishing with plenty in reserve.
