WILLIAMS DESIRES TO SUCCEED ROGERS. Lexington. Ky.. February 26.— Captain Jim Williams, of Spring Station, the well known horse- man and trainer of Luke Blackburn. Rams Horn and other noted performers dt the turf, has made telegraphic application to Harry Payne Whitney for the position as trainer to succeed John W. Rogers, who died at Aiken, S. C, yesterday. General regret was expressed here upon receipt of the death of Mr. Rogers by horsemen and breeders. The deceased trainer enjoyed a wide acquaintance in Lexington and the blue grass region, M
