The latter saved much ground when turning into the stretch, but was in close quarters in the last furlong, which cost him second place. Cooney K. had no mishaps and onlv ran fairlv well. Jack Atkin ran under restraint for the first three-quarters while following Angelus close up and, taking the lead on the stretch turn, went into a long lead, but Rice became overconfident and began easing up in last furlong, allowing Old Honesty to almost get up, when Jack Atkin should and could Wave won off. Honesty was outpaced in the early running, but closed a big gap and was going fast at the end. Yankee Girl came from a long way back in the last three-quarters. Glorifier, poorly ridden and suffering from interference, was a distant trailer for the first three-quarters and went wide into the stretch, then finished with a great rush. Angelus set the early pace fast and .tired in the last quarter. Juggler had ■ lough trip.
