IRISH LAD AND ARTFUL IN KENTUCKY. Lexington. Ky.. March 9. — The stallion Irish Lad. and the mares Artful, Miss Hamburg. Hanilspun and Repute, belonging to Harry Payne Whitney, arrived from New York this morning and will go to Elliott C. Cowdius Kirklevington Farm. Irish Lad will make the season there. Artful is to be bred to the French stallion Adam at Millstream Stud. None of the" mares is in foal this year. Artful was bred to Meddler last year. In the same car came A. L. Astes four-year-old brown filly Estimate, by Sir Dixon — Reckon. She goes to John S. Barbecs- Hen Helen Stud and wnl be bred to Henry of Navarre at Nursery Stud. J. S. Swan, stud groom at Elmeudorf Farm, today made an offer of ,000 to Harry Stanhope for the yearling colt by Watercress — Marechal Neil, which was promptly declined. The dam of this colt is a full sister to Rlnxla B., dam of Orby. winner of the Epsom and Irish Derbys and of Rhodora. the liest filly in the string of Richard Croker last year. Nineveh dam of Norman III., winner in England last year, foaled a colt by Star Ruby at August Belmonts Nursery Stud. Ben Howe is the name registered for D. T. Morris two-year-old colt by Kinley Mack — Merry Order.
