Ariotiette showed the most early speed, but tired in the last sixteenth. Nigger Baby ran the best race he has shown here and was a game contender all the way. Guy Fisher was prominent for the first three furlongs and tired badly in the last quarter. Brougham vjas shuffled I •: k soon after the start, then closed a big gap and can do nim-h better. Hasty Agnes ran a good race and wore the winner down in the last furlong, but tired unexpectedly in the last few strides. Prince Ahmed had no mishaps and was not good enough today. Miss Sain, away poorly, was repeatedly taken back and can do much better. Lens ran fairly well only. Bellwether showed a brief flash of early speed aud quit badly in the last quarter. Meelick got away fast and was restrained under a steady pull in behind Chapultepec for three-quarters, then moved up with a rush when called on and, when fully straightened out for the stretch run, went into a long lead and easily held Chapultepec safe. Chapnltepec acted nervously at the post, broke slowly, but showed fine speed, was allowed to go wide on the first turn and took a commanding lead in the first half, but began tiring after going seven furlongs and had to be hard ridden through the last quarter. Angelus was restrained for three-quarters and made a good effort on the stretch turn, but was outclassed by the first two. Pinkola began with a choppy stride and could never get fully settled, had tj be hard urged and ran far below expectations. Chapultepec. singly, place, 1 to 3; show, 1 to 6. Suffice bored out on the turns, but showed much the most early speed and tired in the stretch drive. Marsh Redon got off poorly and was gaining fast at the end.
