N-w Orleans. La.. March IS. — Edward Corrigan captured his first stake race this season when Elizabeth liar wood won tlio Imisiana Stakes for two-year-olds from her stahle mate. Anne McOee. The Corrigan pair were second choices to L. A. Cellas Fore. The latter was unahle to cope successfully with either of the Corrigan youngsters and failed to finish among the placed ones. Brougn am taking third imuicy. Fore hroke fast and showed the most speed for a quarter, hut was unable to draw away from Anne McOee. On the stretch turn Klizaheth Bsrwssd joined the leaders and in the final fitrlonjr came away to win under restraint from Anne .MrtJco. Brougham, closing a big gap and finishing resolutely, pressed Anne McOee hard for second place. Th • victory of Robin Hood in the third race was not wholly unexpected, as he was well supported by the shrewd set. He broke in front and Hotter kept hlni hard at his task throughout, which enabled him to get to the finish nearly a length in advance of .Merrick, the favorite. The time. 1:12?.. was tlie fastest three-quarters of the season. Al Muller also won the fifth race in tho same time. In addition to running first and second in the Slake race the Corrigan colors were carried to victory in the closing race by Alma Dufour. She was a pronounced favorite and had comparatively an easy time of it to win from Rexane. Lady Esther bad to be much the best to win in the sixth race, as she was away slowly and had to overcome much interference. There was considerable; rough riding in the race, jockey Iiekens on Vohoonic being held most to blame for it and was suspended by the judges for the remainder of this meeting. Kemp Hidgeley again demonstrated that lie is a good racer by taking the steeplechase in impressive fashion despite interference he was continually subjected to by Dario running wild after falling at the second jump. * Come On Sam made a show of liis opponents in the opening race. Todays attendance was a large one and the bookmakers sustained heavy losses on all the races, as every winner was smartly supported.
